Hypomagnesaemia in Cattle: Hypomagnesaemia, commonly referred to as grass tetany or grass staggers, is a serious and sometimes fatal metabolic disorder in cattle caused by low levels of magnesium (Mg) in the blood. Despite being relatively well-understood, the condition continues to cause substantial losses in beef and dairy herds each year, especially during the spring and autumn grazing seasons.
